Golden Milk – So simple, so many benefits
Relieve inflammation and much more with this delicious drink.
Most people are familiar with turmeric from its use in curried dishes, but there is another simple and delicious way to incorporate it into your daily diet that will also greatly increase absorption and bioavailability of the benefical curcuminoid compounds in turmeric. This recipe has been a favorite of mine since I found it a few years ago. If you are not pregnant, suffering from gall bladder or bile duct issues, or currently taking blood thinning medications, this wonderful evening drink can work wonders for promoting good health and well being.
The process of making Golden Milk is quick and simple:
Step 1 – Turmeric Paste
Ingredients:
* 1/4 cup of turmeric powder
* 1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper
* 1/2 cup of filtered water
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients in a small cooking pot and stir well. Turn the heat to a medium and mix constantly until the mixture becomes a thick paste. It does not take a long time, so do not leave the stove. Let the mixture cool off, and then keep it in a small jar in the refrigerator.
Step 2 – Golden Milk
Ingredients:
* 1 cup of almond milk (hemp milk or coconut milk are also a good option)
* 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
* 1/4 (or more) teaspoon of turmeric paste
* Raw Honey
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients in a cooking pot, except the honey. Turn the heat to medium. While you are heating the mixture, you must stir constantly and do not let it boil. Add honey according to your taste.
